Butterfly meaning in the Bible, Butterfly in the Bible is a symbol of resurrection. The metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly has striking parallels to Christian conversion, resurrection, and transfiguration.

From caterpillar to butterfly

Butterflies are part of God’s wonderful creation, between wings and colors they adorn the most beautiful rose bushes. This majestic insect belongs to the Lepidoptera family. To get to display its beauty in a splendid flight, before it had to undergo a long and complicated process, which begins with its birth, until it reaches its full maturity. This process is known as: “Metamorphosis” The word metamorphosis comes from the Greek (“meta”, change and “morphed”, form) and means “transformation”. It is divided into four fundamental stages:

  1. Eggs
  2. Larva (caterpillar)
  3. Pupa or chrysalis (cocoon)
  4. Imago or adult (Butterfly)

Butterflies and Transformation

Becoming a butterfly may seem easy to anyone who has not studied metamorphosis in detail. This is a painful process, that of growing up, breaking the cocoon, crawling, taking out the wings little by little in a continuous struggle not to die, without being able to accept that anyone helps her, everything depends only on her own effort to have good will. , nice and perfect. Being able to stretch your wings and fly is a great challenge. I think that as Christian women we have a lot in common with butterflies.

To reach our spiritual maturity we need a metamorphosis. The progressive transformation from caterpillar to butterfly will lead us to genuine conversion, leading us on the path of victory and true transformation: ” I no longer live, but Christ lives in me .”  Galatians 2:20 .

The caterpillar lives by crawling on the ground. That is also our lifestyle when we do not know the Lord, we drag ourselves with all the problems of the world; family, financial, health; We feel insecurities, fears, bitterness, anguish, complaints, lack of faith, we crawl without hope, thus we only manage to lock ourselves in the cocoon of difficulties and problems. Faced with difficult situations, we remain trapped like the future butterfly, thinking that nothing and no one can help us. We put limits on human reason that does not allow us to move in the supernatural and spiritual dimension of God.

The Word tells us in Ecclesiastes 3: 1 , 3:11 :

” Everything has its time, and everything that is wanted under heaven has its time .” 3.1

“He made everything beautiful in his time; and he has put eternity in their hearts, without man being able to understand the work that God has done from the beginning to the end ”. 3.11

And it is precisely the time that the caterpillar and we need to become butterflies. Getting out of the cocoon, breaking it in the fight is always difficult, but we have a God who, together with the test, gives us the way out. The Lord will not allow anything to come to us that we cannot bear, because the testing of our faith produces patience ( James 1: 3 ).

The caterpillar does not want to crawl anymore, it took its time inside the cocoon, now it is ready to be a butterfly. The Lord has our times in his hands ( Psalm 31.15 ), the waiting time ended, when apparently we believed that nothing was happening, God was there giving us strength, opening the holes for us to come to light, fighting our battles.

It’s time we stop crawling, it’s time to get up and shine, but we can only do that if we start breaking out of the cocoon, stepping out of the everyday comfort zone, growing in the fight. Our faith will be made perfect in weakness.

Once we begin to grow in faith, we will have to learn to discipline ourselves as the foundation for our lives. Undertake restoration through understanding and reading the Bible. Spend time in silence and solitude for your study. Practice fasting (partial or total) and prayer.

Pray without ceasing ( I Thessalonians 5:17 ), recognize God as your only Lord and Savior, continuous communion with the Father will make us come out of the cocoon with the certainty that everything has its time, with the conviction that: “When go through the waters, I will be with you; and if the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you go through the fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flame burn in you ”. ” For I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior .” Isaiah 43: 2-3a

Now the forces have multiplied and what seemed impossible is a reality because you no longer only think positively, but you move in the dimensions of faith such as ” I can do everything in Christ who strengthens me ” Philippians 4:13. Today we are new creatures, old things have passed away, behold, they are all made new. ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 )

Like butterflies, we are now ready to fly and reach new levels that the Lord has for us. Let us meditate on Romans 12: 2Do not conform to this age, but transform yourselves through the renewal of your understanding, so that you may see what is the good will of God, agreeable and perfect

Let us continue to transform ourselves day by day through the renewal of our understanding so that the good will of God, pleasant and perfect, is manifested in us.

Exhortation: “May the transforming power of God reach our lives.
